Dr Tirza Harley, our in-house foodie loves good food and cooking up a feast for her family and friends. She also loves to snow ski! Her love for skiing lead her to Jindabyne in NSW following the completion of her dentistry degree at the University of Adelaide. While in NSW, she enhanced her skills in emergency dentistry before moving to Melbourne to continue her career as a dentist.
Dr Harley spent a lot of her time in Melbourne, furthering her professional development in Orthodontics. While not a formal orthodontics specialist, she has a passion for early intervention orthodontics and she continues to learn about this area, adding to the care she can provide her orthodontics patients. Dr Harley spent the last couple of years imparting her clinical orthodontic skills to her colleagues. She has also invested a lot of her time in learning about and providing Invisalign treatment to her patients.
Dr Harley’s passion for helping adults achieve confident smiles led her to spend some of her career working in cosmetic dentistry, offering restorative care as well as facial injectables to help people create natural-looking smiles they can feel confident about.
In 2016, Dr Harley and her husband Dr Oliver Cvekus moved back home to Sydney to chase the sunshine and to pursue ownership of The Village Dentist and Pennant Hills Dental Centre. Since opening, both practices have won multiple awards, including the National HESTA Aged Care Aware and Hornsby Local Business Award.
Dr Harley believes that a lifetime of great smiles is achieved through education and prevention. This has fueled her commitment to presenting to schools within the Sydney community to educate young people and help them achieve a great relationship with their dentist from a young age. This community contribution saw Dr Harley awarded a Fellowship with the Pierre Fauchard Academy in London.
