Visiting The Village Dentist for the first time

New patients are always welcome at The Village Dentist. No matter your age or current dental health situation, our team is here to assist you in restoring, maintaining and enhancing your oral health. Your comfort is our priority from before you even book your appointment. So, everything you need to know about your first appointment at our Castle Hill dental practice can be found here.

Making an appointment is easy with the help of our online booking system and helpful front desk team. To book an appointment for yourself or a loved one, simply book online or call us on 02) 9484 1132.

An important part of our processes at The Village Dentist is pre-appointment planning after you book your first appointment. By doing this, we can provide the best possible dental care and patient experience for our patients. Pre-appointment planning involves our team collecting a range of important information to ensure your appointment is safe, effective and enjoyable.

All patients are required to complete a patient information form and medical history form prior to their first appointment. For independent living patients, hostel patients and nursing home patients there may be some extra information we need to collect.

Independent living patients

  • Transport and mobility needs
  • Requirement for an accompanying person
  • Timing of appointments
  • Need for premedication
  • Consent – form included in information pack
  • Dietary plan (if any) i.e. varied, chopped, thickened, pureed

Hostel and nursing home patients

  • Communication issues
  • Current health summary
  • Current medications

If you want to have your dental records, for example, x-rays, transferred from another dentist to us, please inform us a few days before your appointment date so we can arrange that for you.

First appointments at The Village Dentist generally take around 45 minutes. During that time, you have our full attention! Our dental team takes the time to get to know you and help you get acquainted with the practice. During your first appointment, your dentist will conduct a thorough oral examination and listen closely to your oral health concerns before making recommendations on how to proceed to help you maintain healthy teeth and gums for life.

We appreciate all our patients for their individuality and take a 100% personalised approach when advising on dental treatment plans. There is no such thing as a ‘one size fits all’ approach at our Castle Hill dentist rooms. If you do require further dental treatment, we’ll provide you with all the information you need, including a detailed quote, and help you get booked in. If you don’t require further dental treatment, we’ll send you on your way with a smile on your face and look forward to seeing you for your next dental check-up!

The Village Dentist aims to provide a sophisticated and caring dental service that enhances the dental experience for patients, young and old.

In many instances, dental treatment may require shorter and more frequent treatment sessions due to non-ambulatory patients requiring the use of a lifting hoist or carer assistance. We do not charge for our time, but consider it a necessary part of providing such special care.

The Village Dentist provides care to all patients – private, DVA, Health Care Card holders and pensioners. A discounted fee schedule is the norm at the Anglican Retirement Village.

The cost of any dental treatment required is always provided and explained to you upfront. Treatment plans and care plans for residents and carers are all provided free of charge.

The Village Dentist is fully equipped to provide a relaxing and comfortable dental experience for non-ambulatory patients. We can attach a special lifter belt to their wheelchair prior to a dental appointment. The wheelchair lifter then gently raises the patient from their wheelchair and places them in the dental chair in the most appropriate position for treatment.

It’s important that our dental team knows about a patient’s need for the lifter prior to their first appointment.

We recognise a range of health insurance providers

We utilise the HICAPS system to process immediate claims. Health Fund Plans offer rebates for a part of the cost of dental treatment. The level of rebate varies significantly between funds (0-80%) and you should check with your health fund prior to treatment if you wish to calculate out-of-pocket expenses.
