Restore your smile to its former glory with high-quality dental restorations in Castle Hill

Tooth loss can be traumatic for many people, having extensive effects on the way they live their lives and the appearance of their smiles. Not only can missing teeth impact your lifestyle, but they can also affect your oral health and overall health. Typically, missing teeth means a diet of softer, higher-processed foods that are less than optimal for your gut. Missing teeth can also cause localised shrinkage of your gum and jawbone, which can alter your facial shape and create a more aged appearance.

You deserve to have optimal oral health and a smile you love to complement it. At our Castle Hill dental practice, we offer a wide range of cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry services to cater to all our patients’ needs. Whether you’re missing one or several teeth, our compassionate dentists are here to help you restore your smile to its former glory and have you eating, speaking and smiling again with confidence again.

A dental bridge is a prosthetic device used to bridge the gap between teeth caused by one or more missing teeth. While the bridge itself isn’t fixed in place, it’s attached to two dental crowns (one on each tooth on either side of the gap) that are. At our Castle Hill dentist rooms, we offer custom-made porcelain dental bridges that are coloured-matched to perfectly blend in with your surrounding natural teeth. They are extremely natural looking and, if looked after properly, very long-lasting too.

A dental bridge can:

  • close a gap left by one or more missing teeth
  • restore your confidence in your smile
  • prevent your natural teeth from shifting because of space created by missing teeth
  • preserve your oral health and overall health

Getting a dental bridge is a similar process to getting a dental crown, typically taking two to three appointments from start to finish. While the process can differ a little between patients, here’s what you can generally expect:

Step one: Before beginning the dental bridge procedure, you require an in-depth consultation with one of our experience Castle Hill dentists to determine if a dental bridge is the most suitable option for you. If it is, you’ll be booked in for your next appointment in the process.

Step two: During your next appointment, your dentist will prepare the teeth on either side of your tooth gap for the crowns that will support your dental bridge. Once the teeth are prepared, your dentist will take impressions for the custom creation of your bridge and supporting crowns.

Step three: In some cases, your dentist may fit a temporary bridge. If so, they’ll typically do this in your second appointment, too.

Step four: When your bridge and supporting crows are ready, you’ll come in for the final part of the process. This step includes your dentist doing a final fit test, making any required adjustments and bonding it into place.

With excellent care, you can get great service life out of your new dental bridge. Below, you can find some tips for helping you take good care of your prosthetic:

  1. Brush your teeth every day, twice a day, for two minutes each time
  2. Floss your teeth once a day, taking care to clean underneath the bridge
  3. Use fluoride toothpaste
  4. Eat a well-rounded, healthy diet
  5. Be careful when eating hard foods
  6. Protect your teeth from clenching and grinding with a bite splint
  7. Protect your teeth from contact sports by wearing a customised sports mouthguard
